Your Views Become More Extreme When....

The dominance of liberals on campus is not without consequence.  While we do not fully understand the varied consequences of this over-representation, we are starting to find out.  A new study sheds light on what happens when people surround themselves with others of similar viewpoints.  The resulting echo chamber causes people to become more extreme in their views and, here is the catch, many do not realize that their views are moving towards extremes.

I think this explains a lot.  Many sociologists, for example, seemingly do not understand exactly how far to the left they fall and, subsequently, why people who do not share their intellectual space not only don't understand them but reject them.  The same can be said for other disciplines.....but especially those (fill in the blank) studies programs.

Diversity is more than skin color and gender.  It involves people with different but sincere opinions and view.

You can read an excerpt of the study here
